Pompidou

At the Pompidou, a Modern Art museum, I learned about Herve Telemaque. He is a Haitian artist. There was a revolt against state. Haiti was in this situation because it is one of poorest countries. He basically incorporates black culture through his work, even though he was a white man. “The Country” protests against United States had over Haiti. He tries to bring black culture of Haiti into work because they were basically disregarded by the white community. Haiti is next to the Dominican Republic, which is stable and has more money.  The United States tried to bring democracy but was not successful.

The artist used this piece as a reminder of his gay friend with AIDS. If a light bulb goes out, the museum makes sure they replace it.

I found this piece to be interesting. The artist used horrible events from around the world and showed how it would affect the environment.
